Utilizing the existing commercial as a catalyst for development and introducing a strong green network, the proposed land use enables mixed use and high density residential without compromising on open space and amenity. The open space network extends from the surrounding ecological areas and integrates nature-based education opportunities and values through the site. The movement network prioritizes pedestrian and cycle connections through the site and utilizes existing and proposed future public transport links with wider Auckland city. These green networks contribute to biodiversity and cultivate a relationship be tween the local citizens and food production. They introduce areas to teach children and foster social connections to support food security and increase whānau hauora and resilience. Don Mckinnon Dr will be retrofitted to prioritize pedestrians, cyclists and public transport through a shared path.
