The Papakainga project looks to resolve a site area owned by a collective ownership of Māori residents. This solution aims to create a unified communal living space, for multigeneration living, and incorporates the needs to all that inhabit this space. The project conceptually pulls on the idea of a grid system forming a Tetris like internal arrangement of modules of kids living within the center, and elderly living on the outsides. The spaces are mindful of circulation to gardens and communal kitchens and dining spaces, while considering the need to meet the residents requirements of vehicle access and storage.
